Use Cafffeine and Chocolate to Find Your Life’s Purpose

I was asked to speak on finding your life’s purpose. It’s not really my specialty. If you find your life’s purpose I can help you communicate it.

When push comes to shove I can give it the old college try. Which is what I will share in this blog.

Finding your life’s purpose requires caffeine and chocolate because it is hard work . . . if you do it right. Finding your life’s purpose is more like physical therapy than a massage. It is not something that someone can just do for you. You have to be involved, engaged, at the very least collaborative.

Over a hundred years ago, Pulitzer Prize winning novelist Edith Wharton gave us these words of wisdom.

there are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.

On your journey to find your life’s purpose, sometimes you will be the candle and sometimes the reflection of someone else’s light.

Liz couldn’t verbalize what she did at her new job. This inability represents so many people who can’t identify what they do but want other people to be able to appreciate their value.

Your life’s purpose is a relationship with you: You get out what you put in.

Your life’s purpose is something you can’t imagine doing anything else.

Your life’s purpose needs to bring you joy, pure and simple.

Your life’s purpose starts with correctly identifying your gifts and being able to talk about them.

  1. Pivot
  2. Honest mirror – be one or find one
  3. Grit – finding your life’s purpose requires GRIT (indomitable spirit)

 Finding your purpose is not something done to you. Pro active and collaborative.

Today we do not have to choose to be the candle OR the mirror.

We do not have to choose to be the professional OR the mom, the CEO OR the cub pack leader. We get to be both.
